Luminaire: an exhibition of Light in the Dark, 2020, Griffin Art Center.

Luminaire is a group exhibition and immersive installation centered on light as both a physical and symbolic force. Opening on the Winter Solstice—the longest night of the year—this exhibition draws on ancient traditions that use fire and illumination to mark the return of light. Conceived during what many consider one of the darkest periods in modern history—the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States—Luminaire transforms a pitch-black gallery into a sanctuary of reflection, resilience, and renewal. For three months, a group of artists presented works that emit light, offering moments of collective remembrance and a vision of hope glowing within the darkness.
